Blocking the Roundabout « Thread Started on Nov 5, 2009, 10:47am »
Training in Grimsby..Came off the A180 turning right off the roundabout then left into Pikewye road, my exit was blocked. Should I have stopped leaving the left entrance clear or joined the tailback blocking my exit ? I did join the queue and a car managed to squeeze through as they were going straight ahead. I think I should,nt of blocked the exit ?

you'll have to forgive me, i don't quite understand the layout here.
is there 2 exit lanes off the r/b and you are planning to leave the r/b in lane 2? but lane 2 is blocked and you are attempting to get into lane 1 for a left junction up ahead?
i THINK that you're saying in order to get on the end of the queueing traffic (to turn left), you had to obstruct traffic wanting to go straight on? i hope i have that bit right at least? if so, then you are quite right, you should NOT block the lane.... no way.
it's similar to when tailbacks come onto r/b's from the exits, you must still make every effort NOT to obstruct traffic that are wanting to use the r/b legitimately

It is acceptable to block traffic joining if they are positioned to go the same way as you, but not to block other traffic that is joining to use the roundabout for other exits.
